Let’s start with the main elements of an effective web design course:
- Lessons plans should be open ended, to allow for students of different abilities.
- Courses should be self-paced. Again, to accommodate students of different aptitudes.
- Lessons should be video based.
- Lessons should be interactive and provide immediate feedback.
- Courses should be gamified.
The above lessons (about coding lessons) are derived from our 7 years experience of working with schools, to deliver an effective web design curriculum. Our courses are based in the coding languages that are used to build websites: HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Many teachers are not coders
One thing we recognized, is that most teachers are not coders. So, it was important for us to develop a curriculum and software, that even allowed teachers with no coding skills whatsoever, to be able to lead a classroom. With our code training system, many teachers are able to simply take on the role of a classroom facilitator, as the software takes care of all the teaching, and even grading.
We’ve refined the collaboration/integration between our courses and the software to such a degree, that some have said that StudioWeb seems to have a psychological Ai. To be clear, we haven’t integrated formal Ai or ML yet, but we’ve been able to achieve the feel of it, given the years and years of refinement put into StudioWeb.
… Students and teachers are both surprised, how the lessons seem to unfold as though their minds are being read, as they go!
